2027 SEASON
The wait is over. Earlier this week we unveiled our first full season — the first one programmed from start to finish by Confluence Theater of Pittsburgh. It’s a year-round lineup with no offseason.
TWO LEGACIES. ONE FUTURE.
This inaugural season is a promise to Pittsburgh audiences: the best of both Pittsburgh Public Theater and Pittsburgh CLO legacies and a glimpse of what comes next. Several of these titles were chosen with input from recent audience surveys conducted by both organizations. From a beloved musical romance to a Pulitzer- and Tony-winning new play, from Broadway-scale spectacle to inventive comedy, this season is the first proof of what’s possible when two institutions align behind a single vision. This is Confluence Theater of Pittsburgh, and this is Season One.
THE 2027 SEASON: A REVOLUTIONARY RENAISSANCE
SHE LOVES ME
Feb 2–28, 2027 at the O’Reilly Theater
Dear Friend: Come Fall in Love with Theater Again
A tale as old as time: two people who can’t stand each other are secretly, hopelessly in love. They just don’t know it yet. Amalia and Georg trade barbs all day at Maraczek’s Parfumerie and pour their hearts out every night in anonymous love letters to a “dear friend” neither has ever met. Sheldon Harnick and Jerry Bock’s (Fiddler on the Roof) She Loves Me is one of the most beloved musicals ever written: effervescent, funny, and achingly romantic, set against the golden glow of a 1930s European perfume shop. It’s the story that inspired You’ve Got Mail and a show that reminds you why you fell in love with musical theater in the first place. There’s no better way to open Confluence Theater of Pittsburgh’s very first season.
PURPOSE
Mar 30–Apr 18, 2027 at the O’Reilly Theater
One Family. One Legacy. One Night Where Everything Cracks Open.
The Jasper family has built a legacy: a patriarch who marched alongside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a son whose political career has already imploded, and a matriarch determined to protect the family name at any cost. Then there’s the youngest, the family’s watchful outsider, whose own secrets are about to surface alongside everyone else’s. Get them alone at one homecoming dinner, and the knives are out: crimes, cover-ups, and non-disclosure agreements all come due. Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’s Purpose is riotous, breathtaking, and whip-smart: winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play, it took Chicago and New York by storm, and Confluence Theater of Pittsburgh is producing it for Pittsburgh audiences first.
LES MISÉRABLES
Jun 15–27, 2027 at the Byham Theater
The Barricades Rise in the ‘Burgh
It’s one of the most produced, most beloved musicals ever written, a show that has moved audiences to their feet across the globe for four decades. Now, Confluence Theater of Pittsburgh brings Les Misérables to the Byham Theater’s grand stage. Jean Valjean spends nineteen years in prison for stealing bread, and a lifetime trying to outrun his past. Hunted by the relentless Inspector Javert, he builds a new life, raises a daughter who isn’t his own, and finds himself swept into the student uprising that will shake Paris to its foundations. This is big, bold, barricade-storming musical theater at its absolute best.
CABARET
Jul 20–Aug 15, 2027 at the O’Reilly Theater
Willkommen: Leave Your Troubles Outside
Step through the doors of the Kit Kat Club, where the wine is flowing, the band never stops, and nothing, not politics, not heartbreak, not the future, is allowed to spoil the party. American writer Cliff Bradshaw arrives in Weimar-era Berlin and falls hard for cabaret performer Sally Bowles, even as the city around them begins to change in ways too dangerous to name. Kander and Ebb’s Cabaret is a dazzling, unflinching musical landmark: seductive and thrilling one moment, chilling the next. Bold, provocative, and unforgettably staged, it’s one of the great American musicals for a reason.
MATT AND BEN
Aug 4–29, 2027 at the Greer Cabaret
How About Them Apples?
Before the Oscars, before the fame, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were just two guys in a cramped Boston apartment trying to write a screenplay that refused to come together, until a mysterious, fully finished manuscript literally fell from the sky, titled “Good Will Hunting.” Matt and Ben takes that real friendship and runs delightfully wild with it. The leads are played by two women who’ve never once been mistaken for the stars of The Bourne Identity or Armageddon. Staged in the intimate Greer Cabaret, this fast, funny comedy from the fearlessly weird minds of Mindy Kaling and Brenda Withers is a love letter to friendship, ambition, and the very strange machinery of showbiz.
THE COMEDY OF ERRORS
Sep 14–Oct 10, 2027 at the O’Reilly Theater
Two’s Company. Four’s a Farce.
Two sets of identical twins, separated since infancy, wind up in the same city on the same day, and neither pair has the faintest idea the other exists. Wives mistake husbands, merchants mistake customers, and the confusion spirals into glorious, breakneck chaos. The Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare’s earliest and zaniest plays, a tightly wound farce built for maximum laughs, packed with mistaken identity, slapstick, and pitch-perfect comic timing. Fast, physical, and endlessly inventive, this is Shakespeare stripped of any stuffiness: just pure, unfiltered fun for audiences of every age.

More is in the works for 2027. Next fall, Season One’s seventh production arrives at the Greer Cabaret just in time for spooky season: one wild musical ride. CELEBRATING THE NEXT GENERATION
Two beloved student traditions join our season as ticketed public events, giving students across the region a stage of their own:
Shakespeare Monologue & Scene Contest | Mar 6, 2027 at the O’Reilly Theater. The Shakespeare Monologue & Scene Contest gives students the chance to bring the Bard’s words to life on a professional stage. Email Jenny for registration information.

BEYOND THE STAGE & BEHIND THE SCENES
Season One is the most visible part of a year-round model built to serve the whole region. Our education programs reach students of every age through classes and workshops, school residencies, touring performances like Gallery of Heroes, professional development, and internships. Behind every show is our Production Studio, home to the artisans and builders who bring each production to life. Across all of it, we work alongside Pittsburgh’s artists, supporters, audiences, and partners downtown and throughout the region.
